MARQUES DE VELILLA

THE VINEYARDS

Our vine-growing philosophy is based on respect for the identity and character of the soils and the use of environmentally-friendly products that are recognised and approved in organic farming.

After carrying out a complete study in our 150 hectares of the climatic conditions, vine water deficit and the vines’ growing season, we classified 18 types of different terroir, with which we have been working dynamically. We have planted different varieties in these soils, taking into account the characteristics and suitability of each sub-plot: 88% is Tinta del País, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec and Merlot.

The study has also revealed that our soils are mainly made up of clay, gravel, sand and limestone. These different soils bring different tasting characteristics to our wines: power is given by the clay, delicacy and finesse by the gravel and sand, and depth and great complexity by the limestone.
